An elderly friend has roped me into trying to fix her PC. I've managed to restore most of her software. She has an S3 Savage DDR video card, and swears that she was able to watch TV on her PC before her machine was restored. I can't find any CD that came with her video card. Is there specific software that either came with the card, or that she might have purchased with the machine, that would enable her to receive and watch a tv signal?

Thanks!

Ant.

Are you sure she didn't mean that she could use her tv as a monitor with the tv-out jack on the video card?

Do you have the drivers for that card? If not, try here (http://www.savagenews.com/drivers/drivers.php).

To watch tv on the pc is usually done with a video capture card. Not sure if the graphics card would have the proper jacks and receiver circuits.

If the card has VIVO support (video in/video out) then it's possible, in which case the drivers would be able to take care of that. However, if this Savage video card doesn't have any other connections on it (other than the VGA) then I say she's getting a little old! :p

Does her vid card have other connections, or does she have another PCI card that has other connections?

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm dropping by her place tomorrow, and we'll see what gives. I have a suspicion that it really is a second card that does just video capture, and she doesn't realize that she has two cards.
