Let me tell you all the whole story...

I went to a LAN a few weeks ago, and while I was playing around, my PC just stopped. After much messing around, I found that the PSU was dead, and thanks to a helpful LANner with a spare one, I got it going again.

A few days later, I was at home playing RTCW and it happened again... Dead PSU. I ripped out the new PSU I had just bought, returned it, got a replacement, put it in, works fine. At this point I was getting damn suspicious.

So today, playing RTCW again, it happens again... the box just stops. What the f*** is going on? Each time I've checked all around the box, no burns or weird smells. A few days before the initial break down, I installed a second Harddisk, using up all available power cords from my 300 watt PSU. Could this be the problem? the disk works fine, could I be putting too much load on the PSUs? Its an Athlon 1.2 gig with CDROM, DVDROM, and two 20gig drives. All the times its happened, its been fairly hot (30+ degrees celcius)... Any ideas? I cant live without my PC!

Go to a 400 watt ps from a different manufacturer.

Could it be that easy though?

Its just getting a little hard to believe that I've just had a bad run with power supplys. What would cause a power supply to die like that? heat? a faulty device in my box?

If it was just heat, are there any PSU brands that are alot hardier to high temps... This is the first summer I've had this PC, I've never had this problem before...
