Have obtained p4 cpu from mate & have bought new mobo MSI 865PE NEO2-V & 1024MB PC3200 dimm to upgrade my system . I asked question below regarding thermal paste which I will clean off & put new layer on . Will be formating hard drive to start fresh & installing wxp prof . My question is after windows is loaded does the option then come up automaticly to install your mobo drivers from the cd supplied . I browsed the cd & there were various lists but no specific all in one list for my mobo so do you need to find them manualy on the disk , it also has the Msi live update so would that be the best option . I have installed most devices on a pc before but never a mainboard so forgive the ignorance but I would rather ask than make a mistake . Before I found this forum I had not a clue the help has been superb so thanks in advance .

First, install WinXP. this will provide basic drivers that allow the system to work. Then install the motherboard drivers. Then install the drivers for graphics card, and any other internal cards (Modems etc.) Ensure that these are all working correctly, and then install drivers for external devices. (Printers/scanners etc.)

At least, that is how I do it: there may be other opinions!

No [ to answer your question] the option does not come up during a windows install of XP Pro to install the mobo drivers supplied by the manfacture--as stated by David Eaton install the mobo drivers after the OS is finished with the install---after the mobo drivers dont forget the MicroSoft updates, that is a must do.

Thanks lads got you so far , however obviously I am viewing the Msi cd from my present system & when I bring up the cd it says set up with 4 options at the top with drivers highlighted , on the screen it says browse cd which has loads of driver options including AMD ect or exit , on the screen it has realtec network driver highlighted which is on my present system will all the drivers needed for new system come up like that or do you use the browse option .Sorry if this is vague but as I said just trying to get everything clear . As stated before it also has Msi live which has a driver update facility , after getting my modem up & running would that be simpler.
