Some Software Questions!

Hey everyone! I'm new here! I have some PC software questions:

1)I have a CD/DVD RW drive and I get read errors in games. I'll install the game, and 5/10 times, when I insert the disk again to play it will show the spinning CD icon for a minute then tell me to "insert the correct disc"

(Yes Im inserting the right disc and yep these are 100% legit "bought it at Futureshop" games like GTA vice City and Warhammer 40 000 DAWN OF WAR)

I've been having to install "NO CD" cracks to play my legit games... :(

2)I tried to install a printer with the legit printer software (Cannon i320) and it told me it couldnt install- there were still items in the print queue. Huh? This system is barely 3 weeks old- never had a printer installed before...


Can you wonderful folks help? :D

First things first:

Welcome to http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif forums.

Please post your full system specs including:

1) The Processor
2) Amount of RAM
3) OS
4) Video Card
5) Make & model of optical drives.

etc.

With that information, we can address the questions you have and hopefully come up with a solution for you.

Sadly- I don't know what my motherboard is :S

Its a DELL 4600
Pentium 4 3.2
1024MB (4X256MB DIMM) of 400MHZ RAM
80GB Hard drive (parallell, 7200RPM)
DVDRW/CDRW combo drive (again- dont know which manf)
ATI RADEON 9800pro 128MB
SB AUDIGY 2

Also another question- My computer didn't come with the ATI MMC CD with the ATI DVD player and crapp on it- anyone know any "alternative" avenues of getting that software other than paying ATI for it?

Drive is PHILLIPS DVD RW/CD RW MODEL DVD8601

Not sure if it is installed as a master or a slave... Does that matter? I can open the thing up and check.
