Hi all.

I'm running XP, and every time you put in a CD, it pops up with that window asking what you want to do with the files on the CD.

This is more of an annoyance for me, and I can't seem to find a way to turn it off.

Any ideas?

BTW - tried the usual check-box thing where it states "Take no action" or "Don't ask me this question again", but when you put the next CD in, up it pops!
:p

Anyone know how to tunr this nagging window off TOTALLY so it won't ask what you want to do with every CD you put in???

Thanks!
:)

Additional - some CD's don't come up with that window, but a smaller window pops up offering a [CANCEL] button, and it starts scanning all the filenames on the CD. I would like to kill this window too... MM.

1) Click Start, Run and enter GPEDIT.MSC

2) Go to Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, System.

3) Locate the entry for Turn autoplay off and modify it as you desire.

Hi Mini-me

The advice rahulkothari has given is fine for winXP pro but I dont think it works for the WinXP Home version. However it can be done by editing the registry. Take a look at this link which explains how to, but be warned messing with the registry can cause serious problems with your system so be careful...you have been warned!!

If you follow the link exactly you should be fine
