hello, i recently began playing more PC games on my PC. i have a decent processor and so so video card, but im looking for a few tips on possible ways to improve its performance

first the stats: i have a 1.1 ghz duron processor, 640 ram and a 32mb SiS onboard video card. ive talked to the coputer guy i know and he suggests i alter the settings of the video card since it is "shared memory." to do this he said to press "delete" during start up to reach the settings.

he hasnt been around lately to help me with this, therefore i havent tried it yet in fear of messing something up.

so im posting here to hopefully get some sugestions on what to do once i get the the settings of the video card (either through pressing delete during start up, or some other way).

also, what kind of performance upgrade will i see?

by the way i do plan to buy a new video card, probably an AGP 64 mb sometime. i also have the newest update for my current video card.

thanks for any help.

Hi wiggintheIII, welcome to the forums.

My experience is that tweaking the BIOS settings will have a minimal effect on video. If you want to get a substantial upgrade to your gaming experience, get a new video card.

That being said, the value that you'll be looking for if you do decide to play around in the BIOS is the AGP aperture size. See here (http://www.tweak3d.net/articles/aperture-size/net/articles/aperture-size/) for some more info.
