I have 2 computers networked together, a winxp pro and a win98. They are set up for file and print sharing but when i try to access the winxp computer from the win98 network neighbourhood it asks for a password. Well, i never set up any password so i put in the password for my winxp computer(which is also the same password for my win98 computer) and it is wrong, i leave it blank, put in the router admin password, all wrong. I can access internet fine on both and i can access the win98 computer from the winxp network places without a prompt for a password or any other complications. What the heck is going on here?

What Password do you type into the Windows 98 computer?

What name appears in the login box when you start Windows 98.

When you know the answer to these questions.

Go to the Win2K computer.

Rt click on My computer

Choose manage

Choose users & groups

Choose users

Add a user with a user name and password that matches the answers to the 2 questions above and you're good to go.
