I walked into my office this morning and found 3 people there waiting for me. I hadn't even sat down my lunch or taken off my coat when they started in on me.
Person #1: Salesman
Problem: Hands me his laptop and says when he boots up, he gets a message something like "Hard Drive not found". He wants me to pull off all his emails and email addresses so he can put it on the spare laptop and hit the road. I power it up and sure enough, "Hard Drive not found". I ran the diagnostics for the boot screen and everything passed but the hard drive. He also tells me that he hasn't done a back up in 3 (was it weeks or months, he can't remember).
Person #2: Another Salesman
Problem: Says the digital camera we just bought 2 weeks ago doesn't work. Hands me a box with the camera inside, in approx. 20 peices. Wants to know if I can get it working by this afternoon, he really needs it.
Person #3: Service Manager
Problem: None of the terminals are working, all have frozen screens. I go to the server where I am greeted by a blank screen. I re-boot the server and am blasted with a message , "Hard Drive 1 has failed to boot" (Next line) "Hard Drive 2 has failed to boot". 2 of 3 drives of a RAID system has failed.
Now mind you, I am NOT the IT guru of this office, he is out of town at a seminar. The name of the seminar is "Employing today's modern networking technics".
I have now cleared my office of all humans, shut the door and put on a CD of Beatles tunes. If anyone knows a blessing for computers, please whisper it my direction!
