Hi, I'm new to the pcguide forums and I need HELP!!!!! I bough a used Micron with a PIII 650MHZ processor and 8 gig HD. I generally stick with developing applications in Visual basic. Anyway, I decided to remove the existing Windows 98 on the machine and wanted to install my copy of Win 98. I did a deltree C: to remove everything. That was my first mistake. The PC would not recognize my CD-RW (Sony) and it wouldnt recognize the DVD. Tried to boot from the Win 98 bootup disc but the PC always went to the C drive first. I then thought, incorrectly, that I would fdisk the hard drive and start all over. I did that, set it for fat32, reformatted with one Primary DOS partition and restarted the PC. I now get a table showing me all the specs on my machine. On the bottom of the screen it shows a message "Searching for boot record from IDE-0...OK.
The cursor drops down to next line and just sits there. This happens with the bootup disc and without it.
Please help. I dont know what to do next.

First you should enter your Bios setup.
Change the Boot order to A, C Cd-rom
Also if it is listed in the bios Allow Floppy seek
Then you should be able to boot from the floppy disk in drive A With cd-rom support from the boot menu

From there you can run setup on the cd and install 98

If your Bios supports and you a bootable copy of 98 you could also try putting the cd in the drive and let it boot from there and install win98

Thanks, I'll give it a try this evening. I don't recall seeing the usual message at the bottom of the screen telling me which keys got me to the Bios, but I'll let you know how it went. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Probably the "Delete" key. But look when it's booting and it should tell you.
