Hello, I am new to networking, would you please tell me from the very beginning the mechanism of file transfer via internet ? for example I have 3 computers, one is a server, the other 2 is A and B, under Linux and Windows, what commands or what I should use / do to transfer a file from A to B.
I am truly a new bee, please tell me from step A to step Z in easy English. Thank you so very much.

Thank you, Of course they are not in the same location, I am sorry, and yes, i am sharing internet connection, it is as I already said, p2p. I would like to transfer some files I have in my computer to some of the other computer.

Do you know of any possible ways for me to do that ? Please tell me all, I'd like to know all, Please, tell me Okay ?

What operating system and version(s) are you using on the machines that you want to share files between?
How is the network arranged?

I would like to transfer some files I have in my computer to some of the other computer.

What are the details of the computer are you trying to transfer from, as well as the details of the computer you are trying to transfer to?

Are you only trying to share files with the locally connected machines or do you need to transfer files to a machine across the internet?

The more detail you can provide the easier it will be for people to help.

What you guess is correct.

Clients are one Xp, one Linux, one Mac, I 'd like to transfer files among them, that means 3!=6 ways of interaction.
Now can you start to tell me what ways they are ? Please tell me all possible ways you know. I like simple commands if any to accomplish this anyways;)

For sharing files between linux and windows you will need SAMBA (http://us3.samba.org/samba/) which has extensive documentation on setting up and configuring.

How you share with the Mac depends on how old it is and if it supports TCP/IP.

And I won't even pretend to rememeber how to setup XP to share files properly.
