Hey, anybody know how to get internet explorer and other programs to open in full screen? What happens now, is the intitial screen is small and I always have to click on the right hand corner box to go to full screen. This again is something small, but I seem to be missing it....

Nice to see you again,
Move your mouse to corner of small window when it changes to arrow move window point to full size you want. You will notice in the corners of the window where it is easy to drag from.
After getting size you want, close window and it will [hopefully] remember to open in the size you want the next time you open it. :)

Well Mr Mark, yes, one can drag the window bigger or to any size one wants, I just simply click on the "full screen" box and get it. Someone told me awile ago that if you hold down a certain key while closing the window, then windows remembers the size.....is that ctrl or shift or Fn or Alt?
By the way, i figured out my last problem by taking it, finally, in to an authorized Toshiba Dealer......i was so embarrassed when their tech phoned me on my cell about 10 minutes later!!! See other thread for details!!

Yeah but if you try it the way I say it will stay that way the next time you open the window and you won't have to press the full screen button.
I am glad you solved the other problem.
Most computer problems are silly things that we all forget to look at

Hi Mr Mark,
okay, yes I will try it the way you said with the arrow from the corner. will the program remember all IE windows after that or just apply to that site? And will that work in Outlook Express, Microsoft Excell and Microsoft Word the same way?
My task bar on my laptop used to be across the bottom of the screen like all other PC's in the world. But one day,,I swoooshed my figure across the mouse pad on the laptop and whhooosh!....my task bar is now vertical on the right hand side! And, I've never been able to find out how to put it back on the bottom. Do you know how?
The advanatage to the side is that you can have a full view of a long list of documents or programs..almost 20 I think. The advantage to the bottom is that you don't have to scroll side to side when viewing pages...

Note the difference between Full Screen and Maximised. In the browsers InternetExplorer, Firefox and Opera (maybe others too) using F11 will toggle between Full Screen and Normal modes.
If you are opening any program from a shortcut (such as ones on the Desktop, the Start Menu and the Quick Launch bar) you can RClick and choose Properties and then set the "Run" drop down box to normal, minimised or maximised to set how an application opens from that particular shortcut.

As far as the taskbar try this.
Put your pointer on it and right click, make sure to unclick the check mark [if not already done so] for lock the taskbar, after that it's the same principle as resizing windows. Move your pointer over taskbar until the little two way arrow comes up and then drag and drop the taskbar wherever you want. Right click it again and put a check mark next to lock the taskbar and it will stay there.
As far as resizing in other programs the principle is the same and should work [not sure about this though]

Thanks Paul, I didn't know about right clicking on the shortcut icons..I have now set them to maximum. that should do it, I think. Also, thanks for reminding me that F11 toggles back and forth between full screen and normal in IE. I never use that but I will from now on.
Mark, as far as right click and drag goes...yes it does resize the blue task bar.....but it doesn't put it back down to the bottom of the screen (as opposed to the side of the screen--where it is right now--vertical). At least I haven't figured it out anyway.

You should be able to drag it to the bottom of the screen as long as the taskbar is not locked.
