Hiya... My case came with no real instructions (darn you Raidmax) and I wanted to confirm my assumptions before I hooked anything up wrong.

My case has top mounted mic and headphone jacks with the following internal leads....

1- MIC VCC
2- MIC DATA
3- GRND
4- EAR LEFT BLACK WIRE
5- EAR LEFT WHITE WIRE
6- EAR RIGHT BLACK WIRE
7- EAR RIGHT RED WIRE

My mobo (ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe) has 8 internal conectors for front audio ports and I was not sure which goes to which on all of them...

1- Mic2
2- AGND
3- MIC PWR
4- +5 VA
5- Line out R
6- BLine out R
7- Line out L
8- BLine our L

the Line out and Ear connectors are pretty straightforward as well as the ground but which is the MIC VCC lead and is the MIC Data go to the Mic2 port?? I am assuming that the MIC VCC must be a power lead but does it go the MIC PWR and if so, what is the +5 VA for???

Thanks

This one must be really tough or Im just really stoopid! 18 views and no replies =)
guess I will try to connect the MIC Data lead to the Mic2 and the MIC VCC lead to the MIC PWR and see waht happens =)

First, before you try that, say "Here hold my beer while I do this"!!! Sorry, but your post got by me.

I would suggest waiting for more replies or going to the ASUS site for assistance. What does your motherboard manual say about it?

As far as a dozen or so views, you must realize that there is at least 40 non-members on this site almost constantly now that Google is referring the site in searches as of late. This site has more knowledgable members more at night than during the day as a rule. Patience is golden here. Almost without fail you will receive a knowledgable reply but it may take up to 3-4 days. It's a voluntary site and we all have families and jobs as well so just take a number and we'll deal with you in the order they are received ;) :D

"Here hold my beer while I do this"!!!
Eeuuch! That's totally the wrong brand!! :D

My 1/50th of a dollar!

MIC VCC === MIC PWR

MIC DATA === Mic2

That +5VA has got me stumped though.

Thats what Im goin with too... I just wonder what VCC stands for?

+5 VA is a filtered 5V output that is used by analogue audio circuits

*showing my age now* .... in the days of bipolar (junction transistors) the three "legs" were called emitter / base and collector .... Vcc stands for common collector voltage (the positive rail of a common collector amplifier) .. so it's a hangover from the past but still used in MOS transistor circuits....

Thats cool Jabberwocky, I learned something =)

So am I correct to attach that lead to the Mic Power jumper?

yep ...it's the filter 5V that is redundant
