OK I have tried everything and this is starting to get to me - My sound works for games & mp3's(windows media or real player) and such but my PC sounds dont work and website sound/music doesn't work either.
I updated direct x and marcromedia to no avail.
I'm guessing it's something simple but I can't find it.
I have also been through the troubleshooter a dozen times - useless bloody thing.
Suggestions? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance;
Matt
Update your AV program with the latest files, and do a virus search.
Also, run Ad-aware, Spybot, and CWShredder to remove any spyware.
If that does not help, then for the Windows sound problem go to Control Panel/Sounds, make sure that speaker icons appear next to the different Windows events, and that .wav files appear in the Name box for each event that has a speaker icon next to it.
If there are no speaker icons next to any of the events and the Name box has 'None' showing, then click the Browse button, and select sound files for the different events from the C:\Windows\Media folder.
If the Media folder is missing, then go to Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs/Windows Setup/Multimedia/Details, check the box for 'Multimedia Sound Schemes', click OK/OK, insert the Windows installation Disk at the prompt, and close Add/Remove Programs after the files have been reinstalled.
For the website sound problem, in your Internet browser go to Tools/Internet Options/Advanced, scroll down to Multimedia, and make sure the box is checked for 'Play sounds in web pages'.
