Now, on a serious note. . . I graduated the University of Arizona in December 1978. Terry Francona was playing left field for the Arizona Wildcats. Because they won all their important games--including the Pac 10 Championship and The College World Series ('80), they were known as the "Heart Attack Cats."
Terry had his own cheering section, and his own cheer. There was a group of friends, classmates, relatives, whatever-- that would come to EVERY game in a flatbed truck, and they would park it in the street behind the hedge-fence for left field. The had a raised bleacher to sit on and a banner with "Hey 32!!" on it in the shape of the state of Arizona.
Every time Terry would play the ball they (and others in the park) would yell out "HEY 32!!". Sometimes we just yelled it for fun--I guess to freak him out. . .or wake him up. Terry was like a Brooks Robinson in left field. Loose, always smiling, wise cracking to the fans now and then, and always on the ball.
I'm glad that he has made it big time, and I hope he wins the Series, not just because they beat the New Yawk Yankiz, but because the whole Boston team just seems to be a "HEY 32!!" bunch of guys.
:)
Edit: some of the other players on the team: John Clemons, Cassie (Cannon?) infieders, Expos; and Craig Lefferts, San Fran., pitcher. I think. They won the series in '80, not '79. . .it's been a while
