Outlook requesting disk

A friend gets the following message when checking her e-mail in Outlook.

"there is no disk in the drive Please insert disk into device harddisk 1 dr2". then she gets a message... "Microsoft Outlook is not responding"

Any ideas?

Which version of windows and what type and arrangement of disks is on the system.

Similar errors have appeared after installing software such as QuickTime and when there have been problems with SATA/RAID set ups.

Other good things to do are to compact mail folders, to delete unnecessary eMails and to reinstall Outook.

It's XP upgrade and I'm not sure if that would change the file system to NTFS or if it would stay at FAT32. She definitely didn't change anything herself.

I wasn't referring to the file system but to whether there was more than one hdd and whether the drives were ide or sata.

I have asked her to e-mail me a "screenshoot" of "My Computer" so I can see about that.
