See this: http://www.whenu.com/whenu_solution.html
This is an adware concern who is teaming up with a spyware-remover concern. They now eliminate competing adware but protect their own. Really bad news,
Consider their product highly suspect.
BTW, Alluria was AOL 9.0 choice of spyware remover as well.
UControl is the first product in the online advertising industry that provides a comprehensive scan of your computer and removes unwanted spyware programs, while continuing to provide the deals, offers and value consumers have come to expect from WhenU contextual products.

Just have to remember to steer clear of Spyware eliminator! Anyone who is looking for an ad/spyware remover should look here (http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm) first, then download Spybot, or AdAware, or both.

As you can probably guess... there are a lot of very angry and disappointed malware fighters out there from this news... It is pretty despicable...

Tell me more about this product that aol was touting.
The reason I ask is that there is 1 now that runs with aol 9.0se and to tell you the truth it does a very good job.
Idon't run it on this box but on my wfes noteboo [since she uses aol] we run it once a month.
Catches all the same things as adware and spybot and even things they don't
Just curious.

I believe that is the Aluria product and it was a good anti-spyware product before this... Now you won't be able to trust that it will tag and remove all the spyware since it has a stake in some... I don't think it is clear yet if it is going to insist on installing the adware with it in AOL... I would certainly avoid it like the plague...

Thanks Budfred,
Just from someone who knows, you don't have to leave it on but I find their scans pretty good.
After we have used that I have also checked with ad ware and spybot and nothing ever comes up.
I will watch it though.
Aol is coming out with another spyware deal next month. Maybe that's the one.
Also they are going to be offering McaFee virus online program for free.
I have been paying for the same program for 2 years and it works very very well [I know lots of people don't like McaFee]
They are doing whatever they can to keep broadband customers.
