Would it be possalbe to back up gpedit.msc ? (if its a file of some sort) as ive changed alot of thing within it, so when format time arrives, ive no need to spend hours going through it.

Not certain about that, but the files and settings transfer wizard allows you to save settings to a CD for future use.
To open the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard, click Start, > Programs,> Accessories, > System Tools, and then click Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.

I did a search for gpedit and found a file in sys32 so ive made a copy to floppy ready when needed, hope it works, be a laugh.
