View Full Version : Internet connectivity problem on Wired and Wireless LAN

Gidday all,

Ive got a small problem connecting to the net when I have my wired lan enabled. You see, I'm running XP Pro and I have a wireless connection from my computer (192.168.0.3) to my nextdoor neighbours wireless router (192.168.0.1) which I have set as my default gateway on the wireless connection.

Now when my wired LAN (ethernet between XP box(192.168.2.1) and 2 Fedora boxes (192.168.2.2 and .3)) is enabled I have no internet connectivity. What I have noticed is when I try to view a webpage there is only activity on this wired LAN and none on the wireless link. With the wired LAN disabled everything seems to work fine. I can ping the router in both cases.

I'm using IE6 and I also have PC-Cillin Internet Security 2005. Is there something that I'm missing in the connection setup of IE maybe, about directing traffic to only the wireless ethernet card and never my wired lan.

One thing that I have noticed is that PC-Cillin can no longer obtain the MAC address of the router when the wired LAN is enabled. It's the dialog box that pops up when it detects that the network environment has changed (like turning on/off an ethernet interface). However my internet connectivity problem also exists with PC-Cillin is not running. Unless there is something resident in memory that I need to kill after doing a normal right click on icon in the system tray and then exit.

If anyone can offer any sugestions that would be greatly appreciated. :)

Cheers,

Graham
