Before you can send or receive Emails you will have to set up the account in Outlook Express, assuming that you have an email address given by your ISP, and you are not using a webmail account.

Open OE, and click on Tools>accounts.

Click on the mail tab, and click Add..

Put in the email address you obtained from your ISP, and the server names used by the ISP. If you don't know what the server names are, check with your ISP tech support .Click on OK when done, and you should be able to send/receive emails.

Sal,

Here's the address you should go to:
SBC Yahoo! (http://support.sbcglobal.net/article.php?item=287)

Depending on what your e-mail address is enter the appropriate POP and SMTP information when you create your account

In OE6> Tools> Accounts> Mail tab> Click Add> click Mail> it will open the Wizard to create an account. Third window in (after you've setup the first 2) you will find 2 boxes to fill in. Try typing in pop3.yahoo.net in the incoming mail one and smtp.yahoo.net in the outgoing. If this doesn't work consult Yahoo! tech support to see what is required in those fields.

Setting up email with your ISP requires coordination between your pc and their server. It is NOT like internet based email at all.

You need the following information to configure your Yahoo! POP3 account:
Incoming mail (POP3) server: pop.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Account name: Your Yahoo! Mail name (your address without "@yahoo.com")
E-mail address: Your Yahoo! Mail address (username@yahoo.com)
Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password

Note that not all yahoo accounts support pop3 mail.

How are you hooked up to the account?

Dial-up?
DSL?
Cable?

Have you got the modem functioning?

Not all Yahoo accounts have POP email access. They did a couple of years ago, (I had one) But now only the paid accounts do, Yahoo discontinued free POP/SMTP usage over 2 years ago and started charging for it.

If you're using a FREE Yahoo account, it will never work with Outlook Express or any other email client. At the time I shut my account down because they dropped POP access and I was getting 50-75 spam emails a day, they were charging $9.99 per year for POP/SMTP access.
