Hi,
I have a motherboard with no CD and drivers. The only posible identification is "Compaq processor board designed by compaq engineers in Houston, Texas" and 242 Rev 0L S23. At Compaq website I did not find nothing like that.
It has a socket mPGA478B, 24 pins power slot, 1 AGP, 3 PCI, and something below (PCI EXT. ???) and 3 DIMM socket.
¿Any help?

Check the Component ID (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?t=25502) thread to identify what the other slot is. FInding info on the board without more info is going to be tough. Compaq usually puts a sticker on everything with their part number or FRU (field replacable unit ) number on it. IF you can find that number you might get some info.
Socket 478 is a P4 CPU, the other slot is probably either ISA or AMR modem slot. The board should also have a small square P4 power supply connector in addition to the ATX 20 pin connector.

You might want to try identifying your motherboard through the BIOS string during boot up http://www.motherboards.org/tools/moboidtools.html
The BIOS string is usually found in the lower left hand corner of your screen during the first couple of seconds after turning your computer on. If you hit the pause button on your keyboard it should freeze the screen so you can copy the number down...

Hi,
Identify this motherboard is really tough. I still do not have a 24 pins power source, I tried to wire with a normal 20 pins ATX taking care of apropiated voltages, but could not find the right "power on" at the front panel connector on board (lack of information).
The lower slot is not of any kind I know like ISA or AMR ( -:)Iam not a beginner)
Could not uncover the chipset to see it, because the heatsink has plastic sticks that I am afraid of to broke.
Just now Iam looking for at pcguide how to boot manually and atx power source and try to boot with the motherboard to see the identification and bios string on post.
I could not find the FRU number.
Any help will be wellcome
Thanks a lot

Download Everest (http://www.lavalys.com/) and run it. It should be able to identify your motherboard. The fact that it has a 24 pin power connector would seem to indicate that it was from a server.

He can't run anything if he doesn't have the correct PSU. It could be out of a server or workstation. The mystery slot could be a PCI-X slot if it is white or green(SCSI Zero Channel RAID) and is about 1 1/2" longer than a PCI slot.

Hi,
I make an adaptor for the power source and fit OK, a board stanby led turns on, but I could not connect the case power switch to the front pannel connector and therefore I could not start (boot). I keep looking. I saw a Compaq - HP PC that have some (few) similar characterictics, but share the same kind of funny port, it seems like a PCI expanssion or something like that. It is black, at the bottom border of the board, below de PCI slots.
Keep in touch.

Hi;
Found something very very similar to the board Iam trying to identify. Is Compaq EVO D300 P4 Socket478 Motherboard with the following specifications:
Pentium 4 Socket478 with Integrated Lan
PCA NWD/400 BRKDL SPIDER-S
For DeskPro Evo D300
Item #: 3564583 / 253242-003
I have downloaded some manuals, but I did not find how to connect power switch, leds, reset, etc to the front panel connector.
¿Could someone who know this board tell me how to connect this stuff?
Thanks in advance.
