Hi
I am writing re my brother's laptop

It is a Dell Latitude with wi-fi and bluetooth and is only about six months old.

Specs as follows:-

512MB RAM
P mobile 1.7 Ghz processor
Office 2K
Win XP
Norton 2004
MS Visio
MS Project
Lotus Notes

Takes absolutely ages to boot up (approx 15 minutes!!!) Never used to and nothing has been done to it to warrant this. Also sometimes when trying to use O2 Datacard it comes up with an "out of virual memory" warning and then it auto allocates virtual memory to compensate. The hard drive seems to be constantly doing something EXCEPT when it is booting up! I have sent HIJACK THIS to my bro to run and he will post the results in this forum asap.
Please somebody help or this laptop will be sleeping with the fish in his fish tank!!!!! Extremely frustrating!!!

He ran a spyware seeking software which found five different types of spyware which he removed but no difference in speed.

He also ran msconfig and there is nothing in there that shouldn't be in there.

Hope someone can help and thanks in advance :)

Go here (http://www.subratam.org/?page=removal) and download a copy of hijack this.

Unzip it to a permanent folder.

Run The application and click scan.

After scanning there is an option to save the log, click it.

Post the contents of the log here for review.

Do you know if the SP 2 for Win XP has been installed? I ask because when I did that for my own PC, it slowed the bootup time considerably and I wound up uninstalling it(and experienced problems even with that!).

It hasn't been installed, he was going to try that over the weekend incase it would help!!

I wouldn't suggest it till you get this other issue resolved first.
