View Full Version : HTML code in e-mail

Whenever my granddaughter forwards an e-mail to me, it's always difficult to read because it has all of the HTML code in it. In other words, it's what you would see if you are viewing a web page and choose "View Source". You see the text along with all the code. If I do a copy/past into NotePad and save it with an HTML extension, and then open it up I see the text only as it should be. When she sends me a regular e-mail message, it's OK. It's only when she forwards something to me. Do you think she has some setting wrong on her end? Or could it be something on my end? I use Outlook Express for my e-mail. Her e-mail address ends with "hotmail.com", so that's what she uses.

If you are using OE, do you have the box checked in "Options > Read", 'Read all messages in plain text'? If you're using something else, I can't help you.

HTML e-mail is evil (http://www.favreau.info/display.php?page=html_email)
Very evil. (http://www.expita.com/nomime.html)
To read all mail in plain text in Outlook Express:
Select Tools | Options... from the menu.
Go to the Read tab.
Make sure Read all messages in plain text is checked.
Click OK.

I didn't have the box checked. So, I checked it but it didn't help....

When she gets the email (before she forwards it to you) does she see the source code?

I'm not sure. My wife and I are going to drive over to see her a week from Wednesday. I'll take a look at computer.
