All of a sudden my links won't work in Outlook Express. The only thing I can do is a copy/paste. This just started today. I haven't made any changes that I know of that wold contribute to the problem. Do you think if I would go to Control Panel--Add/Remove Windows Components and remove Outlook Express and then reinstall would take care of it?
My OS is WinXP Home SP2
Browser: Internet Explorer
By the way, everything else works fine.
Thanks

Do you mean the URL links in an email? Is it all links or just graphics? Reinstalling sounds a bit drastic initially.

Do the links do nothing at all or does just a blank IE (or other browser) page open?
The following quote from http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1074641871 might help out, with running regsvr32 urlmon.dll being the most likely to be helpful. Short of uninstalling/reinstalling you could also try the Reset Web Settings button in the IE options (programs tab).
Go to control panel, folder options, file types tab
Scroll down to the URL:Hypertext Transfer Protocols, click advanced, click edit
and make sure the following is in the application used to perform action box:
”C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe” -nohome
The same applies for URL:Gopher
DDE should be set to: “%1”,,-1,0,,,,
Application should say: IExplore
DDE application not running should be blank
Topic should be: WWW_OpenURL
Run each line individually.
Start – Run then type
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
If this does not work try System File Checker
Start – Run then type
sfc /scannow (note the space) have your XP CD handy this time as you may
be prompted for it.

They do nothing at all. Not even a blank page opens. Later on today, I'm going to try looking at the stuff that you sent, Paul...

I fixed it!! I hate to admit it but it was something I did. When I posted this, I said that I hadn't done anything that would have caused the problem. Well--as I said--I hate to admit it but I was wrong. I installed FireFox and then uninstalled it. I should have know, but FireFox changed my settings. It didn't change them back when I uninstalled it. I thought that it surely would have. Well to make a long story short, I went to Tools/Internet Options/Programs and reset it back the way it was. Had I told you that I installed FireFox, you probable would have put your finger on it right away. Thanks anyway....

Follow up to previous threads.
Installed the new Google Chrome this April 09 and had some issues and uninstalled.
Apparently the process changed what the default browser was and never reset it when uninstalled and I finally discovered that the Internet Explorer was not the default browser and all I had to do was designate it so. The folders folder option:Hypertext Transfer Protocols immediately went to:”C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe” -nohome when I reset the default.
Piece of cake thanks to everyones' input.
Greatful,
Peter
