I recently upgraded my 98SE to XP Pro. The upgrade was mostely seamless. The only problem that I had was with NAV 2004. It wouldn't open. I tried to install it and windows told me that it was already there, I tried to uninstall it from the control panel and error 1606 would show up. So I went to the Symantec site and looked it up. I followed the insructions, I think, and now NAV 2004 seems to be installed and working. It has gone through a full system virus scan.
The problem now is that Windows tells my antivirus program is installed but that the status is unknown (Service Pack 2 Windows Security Alert). Does this mean that NAV isn't really working or that Windows just can't find it? What can I do?

Go to the control panel an click on the security center. It will come up with a window showing the firewall/anti-virus/automatic updates. At the bottom there will be an option to change the settings. Choose not monitored or I've installed something and will monitor it myself. or something similar and the messages will go away.

Yeah, I noticed that option but is there any way to get Windows to recognise the status of NAV? I just like having that little bit of backup that warns me when I don't have any virus protection installed.

Not until NAV comes out with an upgrade to their program to account for SP2. Why does it matter? If your turn of notification from Windows, NAV will still remond you to update the definitions and renew your subscription. Your completely covered.

Ok, I see. I have to wait for the upgrade.
It's not a big problem anyway.
Thanks.
