I've just started a web site and I'm currently adding pages and making small changes within the pages. However when I make an alteration to a page and then upload it, then try to view the updated pages online through IE 6, it still shows the older page without the alterations. I've gone in to Temporary Internet Files/Settings and selected Check fo newer versions of pages every visit to the page. I've also made sure the updated page is on the web server by viewing the HTML of the online page through Cute FTP, checked the file names etc... I've also tried deleting all the temporary internet files and then viewing the page, but nothing seems to work. The thing is, after a while (20mins - 2hours) when I view the page, it shows the updated version.
I've spoken to my Web Hosting and they said it may have something to do with my ISP caching the sites.
This is seriously slowing down the progress on my site as I can't see whether pages are working the way I want them to.
ISP - NTL:Home
I'd really appreciate any help
Thanks.

Have you tried loading the pages locally?
By this I mean have you saved a copy of the page(s) to your desktop (or anywhere you prefer) and then clicking onto the local link for it which will open up in your default browser. This will let you see the page as a web page on your desktop.
A possible reason for not being able to view the updated pages on oyur computer is because you could be trolling the page from your cache. Before checking the page online clear the caches, temporary files and history in your browser (on your computer)

Thanks. I've tried deleting everything, history and temporary internet files, I've even tried that along with restarting my PC. But it hasn't worked.
I know I can view the pages on my desktop. At the moment I'm trying to sort out a Contact Form and guestbook, so I think it needs to be online for it to work properly.
Regardless, it's a pain in the a**e that I'd like to fix.
Thanks.

I would say that it is almost certainly NTL caching the pages: http://forum.digitalspy.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=113309
You could try refreshing the page while holding down the CTRL key as this may send a message to the ISP to refresh their cache of the page as per: http://www.langa.com/newsletters/2003/2003-05-08.htm#2 see Section #2
Otherwise you will need to find out from NTL whether there is a way of overcoming the problem or of changing ISPs or of editing all the changes on your own computer - even if this means setting up a local web server (iis would be fine for most versions of windows) for those pages needing server side scripting to work (forms, searches, ssi, asp, cgi, php, front page extensions, etc). Some are easier to set up than others -so what type of scripts is your webhost using for the guest book and contact form - or do you have any control on how the packages work.

Thanks Paul, holding ctrl when refreshing the page works.
Thanks a lot for your help.
