As soon as I push the button to turn on my CRT monitor, it begins to turn itself on and off at high speed. It never gets a chance to display the picture, and the light on the front flickers on and off too. Is there any way to fix this or do I need to start looking for a new monitor?

Is there a clicking sound as this is going on?
Try it without the data cable connected. Does the green light blink on and off, on for a short instant and off for about a second (with no clicking sound)? Then with the pc connected, does it do the same? If so, your video card or data cable may be faulty.
Can you try either another monitor or your monitor on another pc?

Yes, there is a clicking sound.
Without the data cable connected, there is no change- it still blinks and clicks.
That monitor doesn't work on any PC, but the PC works with any other monitor.
Hope this helps.

Looks like it's time to go shopping!
While monitor repairs are possible, if you know someone who can do them, the cost is likely to be as much or more than a new one.

Ya it seems as though for some reason you do not have a DC current inside the circuit in the monitor, and rather have an AC current that is coming out of the plug in your wall. It might be the transformer, or a short circuit, or something in there. I'm taking an Electronics Engineering Technician course by the way. lol.

Thanks..I was hoping it wouldn't come to that, but as it turns out a relative has an old monitor that's been sitting in his basement that he'll let me use, so that's all right.
