Hi all been looking around and you guys seem to know what you are talking about so I hope you can help me...
I built my own comp about 6 weeks ago....
Athlon 3200+ 64bit 754 Pin 512K Cache CPU
K8N Neo AMD64 Platinum Nforce 3 Motherboard OEM
Radeon 9600 256MB DDR + DVI + TV
DiamondMax 160Gb 8Mb Cache SATA OEM HDD
512Mb PC3200 184pin DDR 400 DIMM Memory
Freecom DVD +/-R/RW 8x
Had first relese copy of XP Pro but bought XP Home with SP2 as I thought that was the problem, but it occurred with both versions. I didnt have the SP2 installed with the XP Pro.
Now what iam getting is BAD_POOL_HEADER X19 and PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA X50.
Now this happens randomly and usual when iam surfing the net or playing poker, I also play Day of Defeat most nights but it very rarely shuts down during play, if it does its normall on load up of entering a server.
Two weeks ago my HDD went down and had to be replaced so I thought that could have been the problem, so I put my old HDD in my new comp and still getting the errors.
Ive been pointed towards memory so i tried these tests
http://hcidesign.com/memtest/download.html
http://www.softpedia.com/public/cat/12/7/12-7-28.shtml
Tried both of these tests and no errors where found.
I phoned my Cable Modem suplier and they ran a test all clear.
As far as I know Ive installed all Drivers needed.
I just got my replacment HDD yesterday and will be installing it later today.
Couple of days ago I installed a ZBoard and only the gaming pad on it seems to work the standard pad dosnt want to know.
Suggestions or comments would be hughly apperciated.

Ouch, this is a nasty little problem. Some googling came up with a myriad of results, including bad RAM (probably not in your case since you have run RAM testers), upgrading to SP2 (again not in your case), bad/corrupt audio/video drivers, AV software, running Service Indexing by default, and even rare esoteric problems - such as using an unsupported USB keyboard, and enabling the NX bit on K8 CPUs running SP2.
I tend to think it's a software problem in your case given the odd combination. Are you running an AV program? Firewall? Have you defragged lately? How about running a spyware app? HJT might be worth a good look at this point, too.

Thank you for your reply.
Ive just installed my 160Gb HDD today and so far Ive installed CATALYST Windows XP 4.10 - Driver Download from www.ati.com for my GFX, the latest sp2 update from windows update, my ntl broadband modem drivers, realtek AC97 audio driver that came with the mobo I have yet to install the NVIDIA nForce3 system drivers.
Ive had the HDD up and running for about 6 hours, so far Ive not had any blue screen of death but my comp has rebooted its self about 5 times.
Iam a real noob about this sort of stuff, I havnt installed any AV of yet "running Service Indexing by default" I have no idea what this is, "and enabling the NX bit on K8 CPUs running SP2" I dont understand this ether I just installed ZBoard which is USB but that was after the problems and at the minute Iam using a standard keyboard. " HJT might be worth a good look at this point, too" I dont understand this ether, as for spyware none installed yet and the only firewall is the standard windows firewall.
Thank you for your time

Well that's odd. I wonder if heat or an old BIOS is your problem...
In any case, you'll have to change the order of installing your drivers. The NForce3 chipset drivers should be the first one you install. After that, install the ATI vid drivers, then LAN & audio, then your broadband modem drivers, then Windows updates.
As for the other problems, skip the Service Indexing stuff for now, that shouldn't be a problem on a fresh install (yet), and the NX bit for K8 cores is only a SP2 thing so that's easy to check before you update to that (not to mention it may not even be on by default).
HJT stands for HijackThis (http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html), a wonderfully powerful anti-spyware app. It's intended use is for after a Spybot Search & Destroy or Adaware scan (either of those programs will remove most spyware/adware), and since HJT is for advanced users only, simply post the log here on the forums and the experts here will tell you what to delete. This mostly likely isn't the problem since you've just done a total reinstall of Windows, but it's good info to have for the future.
Ok, so now that you've reinstalled Windows, the BSODs went away, indicating a software or firmware problem of sorts. BUT you're still having problems, so let's dig a little deeper. These random reboots may be the root (no pun intended) of your problem, and may have caused those BSODs. Things that can cause a random reboot: heat, dirty power, physical short somewhere in the case, bad RAM, bad CPU (most often a cache module error), bad mobo, old/faulty BIOS, etc.
Now we get to the point where we try and swap out other parts to test the ones you have. Do you have any extra parts to try out? Maybe you have access to a similar PC of a friend?

Is there a way to monitor my cpu heat from my desktop? Tomorrow ill do a fresh install of windows and install the drivers in the order you described.
:( I dont know any one who has the a simliar pc, you see before I built this pc I was on a 4 year old 500Mhz intel celron so you can imagine how crap the hardware was. The only other other Hardware I can get a hold of is a Gforce GFX, as for dirty power what does that mean, my power supply is 400w and how would I test for it.

Your cpu is not getting enough Juice. I had been to AMD site a few weeks ago and their is a guideline to how to measure your needed power for Athlon. Go there and see if your ps is big enough for what you have in the case.

Ive reinstalled windows and installed the drivers in the order u suggested apart fromt the audio driver which microsoft says it dont reckonise so Iam at a lose as to what audio driver to install also i had quick look at the AMD site you suggested ziba-june and found a AMD64 driver
"AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor Driver for Windows XP, Version (exe) 1.1.0.14 - AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor Driver for Windows XP allows the system to automatically adjust the CPU speed, voltage and power combination that match the instantaneous user performance need. Download this Setup Installation program (EXE) to automatically update all the files necessary for installation. This package is recommended for users whom desire a graphical user interface for installation. This .EXE driver is a user friendly localized software installation of the driver designed for end-users."

Any idea if this is worth installing?
Go ahead and swap out the video card.
A bad one can cause a rebooting problem.
WRT overheating, pull off the computer's cover, and run an external fan.
If no luck, then an undersized PS can also cause rebooting.
Normally, a 400 watt PS should be sufficient to power your system, but all power supplies are not created equal, and a cheap one may not have the necessary punch.
Which brand is yours?

Ok Ive got a torch and looked inside the panel and can make out Winpower and it supports pentium4 lol
<----- noob
Normally, a monitor will have a power cord connected to a wall outlet, and a signal cable connected to the computer.
Is this your monitor's configuration?
Read the specs at the following link for +3.3V, +5V, +12V, and '+3.3V & +5V Combined' for an Antec 400 W PS.
If your PS's specs for the same items is drastically below any of the Antec's specs, then it may not have sufficient power for your system.

Ive just got me first BSOD since installing my new hard drive PFN_LIST_CORRUPT Ill look in to the psu, no power lead does not run in to wall runs in to back of my pc, like i say its a old monitor.
See if the same problem happens with a monitor that connects to a wall outlet.
