Upon attaching the network card to my pc it refused shutting down!

Every time I shut down my pc it restarts without my interference!

The problem took place only when I attached the card.

Any solution please?

take out the card... :)

No, seriously, I would check to see if the card is compatible with your OS. What is your Operating System, and what kind and model of card do you have? Drivers all up to date?

Also, check to make sure it is correctly seated in the PCI slot.

And if it still doesn't work, take out the card... and let one of the experts on this site help you out... ;) They will, however, most likely need to know your OS and make/model of the card, too, so this post is more of a preparation for them.

Good luck.

Check your BIOS under Power Management and disable any "Wake on..." functions.

here are some of the specs that might help:

P4 Titan, GA-8LD533, 2.4 GHz
512MB RAM
OS: Win XP Prof. SP2
Network Card: Realtek RTL8139/810x

However, I've tried to make sure that the card is seated properly in place and changed between different pci slot but still have the same problem.

Try this page (http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloads1-3.aspx?series=16&Software=True)

It may have the updated driver for your card. I saw that a driver fro Win XP is only about a month old, so maybe it will work for you.

O'k let's clear a few things up.

Does your motherboard have on-board lan?

When you install the card are you using native drivers or the drivers supplied buy the manufacturer?

Is the card installed correctly. What I mean is, does device manager say the card is working properly?
