How does one know when a cpu is too hot? My problem is when my system is on for more then 2 hours my software apps start to fail, getting mostly invalid page faults at no particular address, normally at 0000:00000000. I have a AMD K6 2 450, socket 7 fan. Bought a hdd cooler fan that goes into a 5 1/2 bay. Now I have tested my memory with 2 different memory tester and both say no problem. This problem has just start to occur and nothing new as been added in software or hardware. Got a clue? Is there a tester for cpu temperature?

Some systems have a processor health status in the BIOS which include CPU temperature(actual)and the max.limit for that processor. You will have to press DEL(delete)for setup when booting, then check if there is a "CPU or processor health" title.Hope this helps.

Thank you. I had forgotten that I have a system manager software that came with my motherboard. I will give that a try and hopefully it will tell me something. Thanks again.
