Hi I am new to this forum, and I am new to having my own computer at home. I have used computers in the work force for about 10 years, so I am familiar with a lot of navigation and use, but I just purchased a used cmputer for internet use at home, and there will be 6 users, myself and 5 children. I have earthlink, and have all the various profiles set up.

The computer I bought is a Dell optiplex gII and the OS is win98 (not 98se). Earthlink provides a free spyware detection and removal and seems to work ok. I am trying to decide if I need a pc fix software and what would be the best, in my searches, there are so many to choose from.

Also my OS is win98 which I noticed in trying to upgrade win media player from 7.1 to 10, that I need win98se, I happen to have a Winp8se cd, is it possible for me to update and is it even worth it.

I realize that the computer is probabally outdated and so is the OS, but raising 5 children on my own has it's budget limitations.

So there it is, any suggestions? thanks in advance

Couldn't find a gII at http://support.euro.dell.com/ie/en/index.asp?referrer=http://support.euro.dell.com/ie/en/filelib/index.aspx&segment=DHS&showreg=1 so unable to check the specs but I don't think they are significantly different in any case.

http://www.windows-help.net/windows98/start-011.shtml should show you the ropes

What do you mean by pc fix software? Backup, system restore, registry editing etc?
