Can anyone tell me how i can format windows xp, it's my girlfriends comp. not sure if it is pro or home edition. she says she has some problems with it, maybe even virus' and spyware. she says she wants it formated how do i do it? when i format it will it get rid of virus' and spyware on it? and will it get rid of windows xp because she doesn't have the cd for it it, came with it installed already. not sure the motherboard but its an hp computor she got at best buy.

If it is an hp it should come recovery software. And formating would wipe the computer complety.

If it did not come with a disk, it has the XP loaded on a hidden partition of the HDD. You do not want to format the HDD partition those files are loaded on.

I would suggest you download Hijack This, extract it to a folder on the root drive, then scan and copy and paste the log here for out spyware remover specialists to analyze.
