awful monitor noise

It started a couple weeks ago while playing games, and it ONLY happens when I play games...my monitor makes this whining/screeching noise and it wont stop until I exit the game or turn the monitor off. It does this for any game, even cheap freeware games that you probably dont need a gfx card to play. This has never happened before until a few weeks ago. I recently changed my refresh rate from 66hertz to 72 hertz and the noise stopped for almost a week but then it started up again so I switched it to 75hertz and it STILL does it! Im running out of ideas now. I have a geforce4mx if maybe it has to do with that?

Test your monitor on a different computer and see if it does the same thing. If it does, I wouldn't trust it anymore! Start shopping for a new one. If it doesn't, then your vid card's RAMDAC may be faulty, in which case you'll be cashing in that warranty!

I've had that problem before too. I read somewhere that you can change the display refresh rate and it may cure the problem. Go into your display settings and under one of the tabs you should be able to change the frequency in Hz.
