On my home PC I've been having problems. It starts while I am on the net. It looks like when I move my mouse the parts I pass go black or distroted. Then the screen becomes unreadable. When I try to reboot, it makes 4 beeps and the video has no input. If I try resetting the computer and turning the monitor on and off, it might work and then again for only a random amoun of time. Sometimes it works for hours or minutes. Is this a video card problem? I have checked and re checked the cable connections and I don't have another computer to try the monitor on.

Could you supply some more info please? What is the bios name and date? Computer, make and model or motherboard? The manufacturer of video card and model #, how much ram installed, and how much ram on the video card.

After you provide this we can proceed. Thanks.

Sorry. I am now unable to get that info. It was more of a general question. Like, is that possible? and what are other possiblities. Considering I haven't did any upgrades fore a while. I am not opening my computer.

Then I hope you consider your pc a disposable one. Do you check your engine oil? E-v-e-r-y-o-n-e needs to open their pc at times to clean the fans and heat sinks otherwise things will overheat and malfunction if not literally fry themselves to toast! I give a non-maintained pc no more than 2-4 years depending on use and location before problems begin to arise. Sometimes much less.

Like Mick D has stated more info is nescessary for us to have a clue as to what is the problem or where to go from here in determining an avenue or approach to a solution.

Please give us something to work with. What is:
your os?
your antivirus software?
your firewall?
your mode of internet connection?
your pc in general?

Do you run adware and trojan scans as well as updated antivirus scans?

A doctor cannot cure a patient if the patient has no will to survive. What are you doing or have tried to try and fix it on your own?

My thoughts on the mouse turning things black are it is trying to highlight as if the button is being held down. So another mouse to try would be a start. But it also sounds like more is at hand and starting from basics such as cleaning, reseating cables and cards, trying new cables, monitors etc. Who knows how many steps untill the culprit is found.

Good luck. Post back with what more info you can.
