Suddenly No Post anymore!

Hello,
I have a PC using Tyan S2885 MB. 2 opterons 248, 2 SCSI drives, 4GB RAM (full 8 slots x 512).
It was built several months ago and was working very well.
Some days ago, when I power on, nothing!
no POST, no beeps, Hard drive LED always on, CDROM LED blinking.
I tried several thoughts: removed everything and tried, it didn't work at all.
Last thing was that I cleared the CMOS (with the jumper) and boots fine using default values. Good that gave me the chance to do my latest backup.
Then second reboot, same problem: no POST, no beeps, Hard drive LED always on, CDROM LED blinking.
I am able to repeat the process now, clear cmos reboot, works once and back to the same problem.
Disconecting AC power and reconnect doesn't work, the cmos has to be cleared to make it work once and when it works, it works perfectly well.
I thought it is a battery problem, I changed the CMOS 2032 battery and redid the process, nothing changes.
I can just replace the MB, but I wanted to understand.

Any thoughts?

It may be caused by a faulty BIOS chip or a bad MB.
Some claim the BIOS chip can be replaced with a solder gun and a steady hand, but the normal solution is to replace the MB.

Also, if this is a newer mobo it, the BIOS may not be soldered to the board...most of the newer BIOS chips are able to be removed with a special tool purchased from a place like Radio Shack (they just slide out of the socket). If the manufacture of your mobo still supports the mobo, you may be able to purchase a new BIOS from them and replace it if you come to the conclusion it is a faulty BIOS (make sure you get the correct BIOS chip). Also if your mobo is still under warrenty, I would just have them replace the whole mobo.

It seems your Computer has problem with CD-ROM. Disconnect your CD-ROM (both power and data) and see if it works.
