VIA VT8237 and XP SP2

I have VIA VT8237 chipset on my Mesh Matrix m300 PC.

I installed XP SP2 and thought everything would be fine as the PC was manufactured in July/August 2004. Unfortunately, this was not the case - following upgrade XP Home repeatedly resets after the XP splash screen and rebooted cyclically. I could boot to safe mode and rolled back to the restore point before SP2 was installed.

Does anyone know if there is a problem with the chipset drivers or bios?

You'll need to give more info about your mobo and system. What CPU are you using? RAM? How much do you know about the hardware? Also, VT8237 is the name of the Southbridge - do you know what Northbridge you have?
