View Full Version : Using "custom status" with my profile?

I think it was in one of the FAQs I found.....

"How do I add a custom status to my profile?
If the administrator has enabled custom status titles, then you can specify the text you want to display by editing your profile and entering the text you want in the Custom User Text field."

Can I get this turned on for me please? Or can a moderator change my "Registered User" line to something else?

I have seen some of the custom ones for some users, and they are cooler :)

Custom titles used to be based on the number of posts a user made and changed with binary progression among the default titles until a certain point, when custom tittles were allowed. I don't think Charles actually has them enabled at the moment.
The custom status titles some people, including myself have, are a holdover from the old version of the forum software. When Charles upgraded, those of us with titles were left with them while everyone else was saddled with the generic 'Registered User' title.

ms-fixit,
Those of us who have custom titles had them changed before the current vb software was instituted, the old scheme was you had to have a certain number of posts until the title changed and eventually you got to change it to a custom title. After the new software was instituted no one has had the ability to change and all users who registered are listed as "Registered Users".
I am afraid ixl is the one who would have to change the settings to let users change the titles once again.
Great suggestion, welcome!

Me thinks there's a wee bit of elitism at play here. :(

Pops,
Nah, I just thing Charles is either too busy or bored with playing around with the little perks that were once here. Personally I would like to see them return if he ever has, takes or makes the time.

There were a few problems we were experiencing on the forums and I'm sure those have been more of a priority. Hopefully after they are corrected he can fine tune the rest.

Actually I was once a master geek once, and changed the title to amateur because the longer I spend here the more I learn. I hope that is not elitist.
:p

I didn't come here originally to be given a title nor is that why I stay around. I have my reward.

Speaking of rewards .... binary sequence, eh? That means ... when I hit 256 posts (soon), I get ANOTHER ICON! Yeeeeeha!

Sorry everyone.. no elitism, just incompetence. When I upgraded to vB3 they stopped working properly, I said I would look into it and then forgot about it.

I finally, FINALLY figured out where the darned "Registered User" thing was coming from and got rid of it, so the "Geek" titles should work properly now. And everyone should be able to set a custom title as well.

My apologies for letting this slide.
