OK I have a Gigabyte GA-7N400-L mobo with on board sound. The problem I am having is I can not get very little sound from the right speakers. Almost none detectable unless you stick you ear right to it. I have tried differnt speaker and head phones. The volume control in set right on the middle. It happens with every program. (Media player, real player, quick time, doom 3) I only get half the sound.

The volume control in set right on the middle.Do you mean that the "Balance" control is set right on the middle??

Audio drivers are installed??

Were things ever working properly?? Is this a new build?? Which Operating System are you using?? Is this an upgrade or a fresh install of the OS??

Try a music cd in your cd or dvd drive and plug the speaker lead into the front connector. Do you have both sides equal that way? You can also try a Walkman into your pc speakers if your cd-rom has no front jack.

AAMOF any 1/8th" earphone output from a radio or old 3" reel to reel or cassette player will be good enough to evaluate your pc speakers. If the wire has been stressed at the plug it may just need to be shortened and a new jack soldered on as well.

eliminate the speakers and it's cable first, then move on to the sound card if the speakers check out ok.

I have no idea whats wrong I tried pluging the speakers in the front jack and they work fine. Guess I will learn to live with a cord coming out the front of my case.

Is that a front audio jackmor the jack from one of your cd-roms? If from one of the ROMs you won't be able to hear anything but optical disks.

What you have found out is that the speakers are fine. If plugging them back into the output of your soundcard, integrated or otherwise, still doesn't work, try uninstalling the drivers, rebooting, reinstalling them. If still no improvement, time to consider an RMA if under warranty. If not, just disable the onboard sound in BIOS and install a soundcard.
