Is it and / or how can I run 2 monitors off 1 PC. Onboard Video currently, I do have AGP and PCI slots available.

you need a video card that supports dual monitors, and two monitors.

I was doing it for awhile and plan on it again soon. Don't remember the exact details but if you read this thread (http://www.pcguide.com/vb/showthread.php?t=20203&highlight=Dueling+monitors) it should get you going. If not post back in this one and we'll set you up.

You can get a 2 or 4 meg pci video card and it will work fine. They're real inexpensive.

Edit: My problem in that thread was that I hadn't installed the drivers and as soon as they were, I got the monitor selections and finished setting it up.

I am using two monitors, both driven by a Hercules 3D Prophet 9200. working well, and the amount of screen space is very useful. Just to be awkward, the monitors are different sizes, and different resolutions, a 17" 1024*768, and a 19" 1280*1024.. Setting up was simple, and worked "straight out of the box"

Dual video cards works quite well too, I've used both methods with excellent results. The only requirements for using multiple display are:

Dual head video card or multiple video cards
proper drivers for all cards
slot[s] to plug extra card[s] into
IRQ[s] open for use.
Lots of open space on your desk, monitors must be at least 6 inches apart to avoid discoloration on the center portion where they meet.
win98 or newer OS. Win3.x and 95 won't support multiple monitors, starting with 98 you can have up to 12 displays. Try finding that many slots...

If I missed anything do post it...

Actually you dont necessarily have to put the monitors far apart. I was running dual 17" CRT's for the last couple years and all i had to do was rotate them slightly so the screens were slightly pointed at each other (forming about a 170 degree angle) and then the internals were far enough apart to not interfere with each other, not to mention it made it easier to see both screens at once. Course its not an issue if you're using LCD's like i am now.
BTW, great decision to go with two monitors. It's one of the best tech purchases i ever made, the extra workspace is great.
