Vid trouble or mobo?

Last night i unhooked my monitor and keyboard and mouse to help a friend with his compaq computer.. After i fixed his problems i hooked everything back into my computer and started it up..
My monitor didnt click on and i smelled a faint scent of electrical smell..
Now when i turn my comp. on i can hear it start to boot all my Hds ,floppy cd roms all work..but no video,in fact the monitor goes into standby..

i tried another vid card same thing, i also hooked another comp to monitor it works fine..
(also side note when my comp boots i hear NO video alarms or anything other than its normal boot sounds..)

Is it possible that my AGP slot is bad now for whatever reason?

i have a geforce4 4200 TI and MSI MOBO

If you have a PCI video card laying around give that a try or try a different monitor
