You have a LOP infestation. This was installed as part of Messenger Plus. The best way of removing it is to uninstall Messenger Plus. If you really want to use it, uninstall, then reinstall, declining any offer of sponsored software!
If this does not solve the problem, post back with a fresh Hijack this log.

msn messenger; uninstalled but i wasnt able to do the same for messenger plus. at Settings>Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs: it gives this msg "messenger plus had not been uninstalled from your pc. please try again later." should i run "msconfig" and disable msn related programs?

MSn messenger need not have been removed!
However, if messenger plus will not uninstall, the malware can be fixed with Hijack this.

Have Hijack This fix all of the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and hitting fix checked. Make sure all browser and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Proc creative] C:\DOCUME~1\CHRIST~1\APPLIC~1\Slowboob\Atom Readme.exe

Reboot and delete

C:\Documents and Settings\Christopher\Application Data\Slowboob

These may be hidden files. See HERE (http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html) for how to show hidden files.

Please post a followup Hijack this log, and say if your problems persist.

Messenger plus is NOT a microsoft program. The entries referring to C:\Program Files\Messenger\MSMSGS.EXE, are pointing to a legitimate windows application. If you have uninstalled it, then the entries may be removed.

I don't see anything else wrong in your log. Are you still having problems?

no, but in my previous post do i need to remove:
O9 - Extra button: Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\MSMSGS.EXE (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Windows Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\MSMSGS.EXE (file missing)

It won't hurt to remove them.

Now that you are free of spwyare, it's a good time to batten down the hatches.

Get a good Software firewall
Install Adaware and keep it updated. Scan weekly for now
Install and keep updated Spwareblaster

The best thing you can do is STOP USING INTERNET EXPLORER. I would suggest you try FireFox (http://www.mozilla.org/). It is fast, it us very customizable and it does not use Active-X and that alone makes it more secure than IE.

A little unsure if you should switch:

Read this (http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-3000_7-5561073-1.html?tag=cnetfd.wk)

and

this (http://reviews.cnet.com/Mozilla_Firefox_1_0/4505-9241_7-31117280.html?tag=mp)

and

this (http://slate.msn.com/id/2103152/)

and

this (http://www.fool.com/News/mft/2004/mft04120325.htm)

and just one more reason for people to switch. Unless you have Windows XP with service pack 2 forget anything but minor security updates for IE. Anyone with Windows 95,98,ME,2000 head right for mozilla.org.

End of commercial...

i'm using firefox :) but do i need to update Windows XP with SP2? btw, do i get Ad-Aware Personal or Ad-Aware Professional?

Paleo Pete

If you're running XP you probably should grab SP2, AFTER you make sure your system is cleaned of spyware and optimally should be in good running condition.

AdAware Personal.
