As a result of my ingenious son "experimenting" with my laptop, I had to do a complete reformat of my hard drive and reinstalled XT Pro. I even upgraded to Service Pack 2 using the freebie CD Microsoft sent me. Everything seems to have gone swimmingly with 2 small exceptions I am unable to change the resolution settings in display properties to increase the pixels. I put my mouse on the cursor but cannot seem to move it. It (Toshibal Satellite laptop) is stuck at the lowest resolution so the text on the screen is marginal at best. Would like to make it a lot sharper. Secondly, when I go into Folder options, View tab where it talks about applying a view such as Details or Tiles to all folders, the Window "Apply to All Folders" is grayed out and therefore cannot be excuted. I noticed that this is the same on my daughter's laptop and she is running XP Home. This last issue is a nit, the first one (screen resolution) is more bothersome. Might it have something to do with possibly erasing some Toshiba drivers when I did the initial reformat of the hard drive. Any help is much appreciated.

You need to go to the manufacturers web site and download the correct video drivers for that model.
Or if you have then use the video card drivers on the original system disks

Thank you Rick. Will do. I think that should fix my video screen problems.

Any suggestions re my other question on applying a specific view for one folder to all of my folders via control panel/folder options?

Instead of going to the folder options in Control Panel (assuming that is what you have been doing) open MyComputer. Then from {Tools -- Folder Options -- View} try using the option there.
