Hello
My computer starts to slow down after 2 hours or less. Then its impossible to click or close anything. I do that Ctrl + Alt + Delete, but some blue srceen comes up and says windows is unstable and some other stuff like that, but the close program window comes up about 2 minutes later after the blue screen, then the close program windows shows that everything is not responding. then from there everything just quits. I am running windows 98.

hello i had the same problem. could i just ask whether you have a 32mb RAM or less or 64mb RAM or higher?
the problem maybe that you have insuficient RAM compared to the power of your computer(not the power plug or supply)if your RAM is less that 32 mb then i recommend that you upgrade to a 64 or higher. about £15 pound to buy chip and get it fitted at a good computer shop
hope it helps,

More ram will definetly help. Another thing to check is your system resources - you might want to install the resource meter from the Win98 disc. Also check your bios and see if has temperature readings for the processor or motherboard.
Use Start/Run/msconfig/Startup and close down things that don't need to sartup at boot time http://www2.whidbey.net/djdenham/Uncheck.htm

Guardian,
What do you have running in the background at startup? (Ctrl>Alt>Del)
Are you browsing the Internet with this computer?
I would definitely agree that your RAM could use some "beefing up!"
If you are browsing you would want to routinely dump your temporary Internet files.

This particular question has sort of been over done....

Guardian Look up the information already posted in your other topics. About everything we can think of has already been posted. It's about time to let this one go, not much else can be done until everything already suggested has been tried, and I can't think of anything that hasn't been covered.
Let us know what you find out, and please keep it in this topic, don't post yet another one. Something is eating up resources, all you can do is find it by process of elimination. Check the other topics, some excellent information is in them. Try the suggestions one at a time, the first place I look is in the Start Up folder. Msconfig is next.
