My computer shutdown automatically after boot in windows.
It runs OK in SAFE MODE and DOS.
I checked the BOOTLOG.TXT and found there is 1 error:
"deviceinitfailed = VPD"
Can anybody tell me what wrong with my computer and how to troubleshoot it.
THANKSSS.

Hi harry
while in safe mode go into device manager and see if there's any problems there

Try this boot log analyzer

Hi Gallaeglagh
I did use Boot Log Analyzer to check the BOOTLOG.TXT.
The failure I got is found from that software.
What else I need to check from that analyzer?

VPD is a virtual print driver.
You should have a line in your system.ini file, [386enh] section that reads
device=*vpd
From safe mode you could changer that to read
;device=*vpd
Reboot and see what happens. If it works I would then check the installed printers. If it doesn't work simply reedit the system.ini file.

Hi
I forget to check the BOOTLOG.TXT last time.
I just check this file, the failure "deviceinitfailed = VPD" is gone.
However the shutdown problem is still there.
When was the last time it worked properly?
What version of Windows are you running?
You can hit <f8> (if running 9x) while booting and bring up the menu, and then select step-by-step...go through and skip on device/file each time...
