i do not know how to use these forums at all. what is a thread--when you ask a question? how do start a thread? what does post new thread mean? i have a problem with my printer--in the printing queue there is an error message and nothing will print. how do i delete that error message and cancel all docs to be printed? when i use the help and support area, and i troubleshoot as far as i can go, a window pops up that says--operation could not be completed ,access is denied. did someone put that on there intentionally--was it programmed to pop up? or is there a solution that anyone knows of?
thanks for listening.

well a thread is a new topic on a forum, you posted a new thread.
What version of Windows are you running and what is the error message that comes up with you try to print.
To delete print jobs, double clicking on the printer icon on the bottom of the screen near the clock there will be an option to delete print jobs.

I would cancel the one that has hte error, it would hold up the queue. I would also make sure you are printing to the correct printer.
Is this a local printer or a network printer ?

To cancel printing of a document, open the print queue, right click on the document you want to cancel, and select cancel from the options.

Possibly you are on a restricted user permission status that does not allow modifying of printers or printer jobs.

yankeelady here. all of you that have helped me--thanks. i did find the solution. sure enough, my daughter's boyfriend had set himself up as the administrator, and he could fix things thru his account. never told me all this. he changed up my account adding and deleting things without telling me. all of your advice was correct--but i could not do it on my account. so he had to come over and do it on his account. real nice of him eh? so my pc is now back to the way it should be--just my account. PrntRhd-----you figured out the real solution--thanks.
bye,y'all

No problem, that's what we do for each other here. :)
The tip-off was your observation:
on the drop down menu some of the topics are highlighted and some are not. so happens that cancel and options are not highlighted.why?
