Sounds like you are loaded with SpyWare and Adware. Download "Spybot Search and Destroy" and "Ad-aware" to get rid of it.

Don't know what the specific error is, but in general it's a scripting error, probably java script, which means it's more likely bad coding in the website, not your browser. Look through the IE Internet Options, you should find an option somewhere to turn off error reporting for javascript. You can also turn off Javascript entirely, but some webpages might not function properly or at all.

At a guess, it sounds like the script is trying to call up a file that no longer exists.

You might also consider checking out Firefox browser, as an alternate to IE it does not use ActiveX, works quite well, and is a lot less likely to attract spyware and browser hijackers. Many of the folks here on the forums like Firefox, and use it regularly, myself included, at least on the rare occasions I use my Windows machine online...

Firefox (http://www.google.com/url?sa=U&start=1&q=http://www.mozilla.org/&e=747)

And a question, is this happening at different sites, or just one specific webpage?

You will want to keep Internet Explorer for the fact that it alone is what enables you to receive Windows critical updates. Also there are some sites, in my case an online banking site, that just don't seem to function well with Firefox. It is for occasions like these that you should keep your Internet Explorer and have all of the update patches. Other than that, I'm a converted Firefox born-again. I love it. You can open new windows in tabs on the same screen and I haven't had a pop up since I started using it. It works great, and be sure to look for Version 1.0

Good luck.
