I am buying a Handheld PC for my son for christmas. A dell Axim, It will have wi-fi 'b' and bluetooth integrated into the unit. It will also be running the windows mobile 2003 version OS.

I know nothing about handhelds, so I am wondering if there are places I can find programs (if anything like that is even available) freeware or even to purchase them? What would really be nice if there is a firefox type browser for handhelds, as this comes with the standard IE browser.

Does anyone know if the Bluetooth function will allow it to connect to the broadband DSL connection we have on our PC's right now, or will it just allow me to send files back and forth? I think I figured out that I will have to buy a USB to Bluetooth unit for his PC to be able to connect to it.

If there are any sites that may be dedicated to helping PDA users, I would really appreciate some links to them. I have done searches here and found some old threads, but nothing very recent. Like I said before, this is all new to us, and I havn't been able to find a whole lot of usefull info yet with my searches. Thanks!

There are alternative browsers, such as MultiIE (which is based on Internet Explorer, but security is less of an issue with handhelds).

For information and programs, try these:

I have an ancient Toshiba e740 (first pocket pc with Wifi) that runs Pocket PC 2002, but supposedly 2003 is much faster and easier to connect to Windows networks.
