View Full Version : Power supply affecting cpu speed?

I originally posted this in another section but it's now become more of a psu query than a motherboard query. I've started to have problems booting my computer using 166mhz (it's an Athlon XP3000) and it worked fine before. I was wondering whether a problem with the psu could allow the computer to boot fine at 100 and 133mhz but fail to boot when set to 166. Does this sound plausible or am I probably best suspecting the motherboard?
Cheers,
Gary.

ummmm, to be honest im not sure about this, but seeing no-one else has said ne thing i'll give u my opinion.
What "wattage" power supply are u using?
If its a small one then perhaps the CPU is drawing too much power for it to run like this? (thats gotta be a ****ty power supply or you have too much hooked upto it!)
as i said, i cant really comment, but let me know what the power supply is :)

It is more likely to be compatability of the speed of RAM than a CPU/PS issue.
What spec RAM do you run?
