Downloaded software

I just recently download a software for free on the internet, when I run it, my computer turns off and dumping-memory blue screen turns on before computer restarts, and everything is then fine again. It is a little weird to me because I am completely clueless about computer thingys, please give me some intructions. I appreciate your help.

It's possible the software is corrupted or full of malware such as virus. It may even not be compatible with your system.

What is the software and where did you get it? What are your computer specs?
