Hi eveybody,
I am thinking of bying a new PC.However, i don't know if it's the right time. I hear of big changes with PCI-express,SLI etc so i don't know what to do. I am currently considering a pc with:
AMD64 3500+ (socket 939) or AMD 3200+ (socket 754)
GeForce 6800GT(or Ultra) or Ati X800XT (the big question:which one?)
WD S-ATA 120GB HD(7200prm,8MB buffer)
a good motherboard(nForce 3) depending on what CPU i am going to choose
etc

I am waiting to hear your opinions. My main problem is that in case i buy this PC, will i be satisfied for about two or three years?

First of all, Welcome to the PC Guide Forums!!! :D

My main problem is that in case i buy this PC, will i be satisfied for about two or three years?
This is the really big question here. The answer is not as cut-and-dried as you might hope. It really depends on what you want to do with your computer, and whether or not you factor any upgrades into that time period. From the looks of the parts you have picked out, gaming is your thing. So, after two years with no upgrades, you probably won't be happy with the performance anymore. But, if you upgrade a few times in there, it's possible you will be quite happy for three years.

To answer your other questions, 1) I would suggest Socket 939 as the upgrade potential and extra performance are worth it, 2) depending on the games you play, either one will work but I would prefer the GF 6800 Ultra myself right now, 3) go with 160GB for your hard drive because they're about $10 more than 120GB!, and 4) wait for NVidia's upcoming NForce4 SLI chipset and you'll be quite happy! This is also why I suggested the 6800 because right now, NVidia is the only one with the secret SLI sauce. Even tho the 6800 UE and Radeon X850XT trade blows on gaming performance, you can bet your @$$ that two 6800's will beat the $*&# out of a single X850XT!! SLI is on my list of upgrades, too, so alas, I will also have to wait for the NF4 SLI chipset to come out. Hopefully it won't be too much longer...
