Hi:

I'm looking for advice on what ram manufacturers have quality products for the average computer user that will give best price/value and which manufacturers to stay away from. I don't want to buy cheap ram and have it costing me in the long run.
Any input on the good and bad out there?
Thanks,
-W

Hello wcmjg, Welcome to The PC Guide Forums!

Good RAM manufacturers

Crucial (Micron)
Kingston
Samsung
Infineon
Corsair
Mushkin
OCZ
Giel
Apacer
Transend

All of the above have a lifetime Warranty.

The first four on the list make 99% of the DRAM chips that other manufacturers use in thair modules.

Just to add a couple things...

Crucial and Kingston both have searches available on their websites for OEM computers (HP, Dell, etc) that will give you a list of RAM to buy that will work with that model. Crucial tends to be slightly cheaper and is 100% guaranteed to work, although Kingston RAM is still excellent.

For a standard PC, I like Kingston and Corsair. Both of them have a "value series" type of RAM for non-OC'ers as well as higher speed low latency RAM for gamers. OCZ, Geil, and Corsair XMS make some of the best OC'ing RAM around.
